Principal’s Message

“And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and men.”
Luke 2:52

 Jesus’ Report Card

Sometimes it seems like we are always striving for progress and with reports around the corner it is a good time to reflect on the year gone by.

However, the shaping of a child is more than just the measurement of inches grown and academics. There is a deeper work going on inside; a growing awareness the world around, social lessons learnt in working and playing with friends and colleagues, seeds of the Word of God sown in the heart that will determine the direction of a life lived for the benefit of others and God’s kingdom.

Jesus was a child once too. We can see Jesus’ report card in Luke 2.52. It doesn’t mention academic achievement, it talks of his character, in particular, wisdom, stature  and favour with God and men.

When you reflect on progress this year, make sure you take a snapshot of the whole picture. It will help you appreciate the precious child you have been entrusted with and enjoy the journey with them.

Working Bee Photo Gallery

We had to make a second attempt at our ‘end of year’ working bee, due to wet weather on the original day.  But, oh what a difference it made to our school!
Thank you, sincerely, to all our wonderful families who gave up valuable weekend time to complete a long list of tasks on the day.
Thank you also to those parents who undertook some of those tasks prior to the working bee, and to those who even came back on the Saturday and gave us ‘double’ time!

Your efforts have been noticed, and are greatly appreciated.
A valuable spin-off of the day was working alongside lovely, warm-hearted people, and enjoying immensely their company and conversation.
Well done to all!

Prep Class

November is formal transition to school for the Kinder children. The Prep children enjoyed the opportunity of meeting and getting to know their new ‘buddies’. They helped them complete an activity and liked being  the ‘big’ kids!!! They will have more opportunities during the next couple of visits to get to know each other and develop friendships.

Year 1 & 2 Class

This week, we have been very busy completing maths, writing and reading assessments in preparation for report writing. It has been very rewarding for both myself and the children to see how much progress they have made throughout the year and how far they have come. I look forward to sharing this with you in your child’s report.

4 Year Old Kinder Class

The end of the year  is fast approaching.  We only have 4 weeks left together.  Here is some information just informing you  about what  will be happening in kinder on our last week.

Monday 11th December - Our final Kinder at Cooinda session. During this visit we will give the residents a Christmas gift and we will have a little  Christmas party together.

Tuesday  12th December - We will be going to Cooinda to sing Christmas carols with the school children. Once back at kinder we will have our kinder Christmas  party. The children  will bring a plate of  food to share on this day. This is for the kinder children only. A note will go home closer to the time about what to bring.

Thursday 14th December - This is our last day for the year. On this day we will have the nativity  play, some songs and dances and our graduation  ceremony.  I will send a note home closer to the day with exact timings. The session  will still run from 9.00am to 2.00pm. The celebrations will take place in the second  half of the session.

On Tuesday  21st November, we are going to take a photo of the group. This photo will be framed and given to the residents at Cooinda as their Christmas gift from us. We are asking for your cooperation in having  your child’s hair neat and tidy and having your child in full uniform on this day. Your child will also receive a copy of this photo.

Well done and thank you to everyone who participated in the Benalla Festival Parade. The kids all did a great job and I have heard that we looked amazing. We certainly were “Joyful Always” just as the song said.

3 Year Old Pre-Kinder Class

Another two weeks of pre kinder has flown by.  The children have enjoyed buying and selling flowers at the new kinder florist, even arranging their own freshly picked flowers.

A new art experience for the children was bubble blowing and then making a print on their paper. For some it was hard to remember to blow and not suck, lots of fun.
